::COURSE DESCRIPTION

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a 4-day course for selected teams of staff who will have the responsibility of training peer workers as part of teams who provide HIV/AIDS care and treatment. Two conference calls and work assignments are also required before the course begins. You will learn the theory and practice of designing, conducting, and evaluating training for a cadre of consumers who will help to close the gap between clients and the health system.

Content of training sessions for peer workers will be based on the Building Blocks to Peer Success Training of Trainers Toolkit developed by the Peer Education & Evaluation Resource (PEER) Center, Health & Disability Working Group, Boston University School of Public Health.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

::TRAINING FACULTY
.Experienced facilitators will lead each session.
Co-faciliators for training sessions will include
medical doctors, Columbia University staff, social service agency staff and experienced
peer workers

::TOPICS COVERED WILL INCLUDE

By the conclusion of the course, participants will have practiced and will be able to carry out the major steps of the training process, including:

· Conduct training needs and assets assessment

· Write or select appropriate learning objectives

· Organize appropriate training modules to make up a curriculum

· Coordinate logistics for a 3-9 day training course

· Follow specific session plans to facilitate classroom sessions using participatory training methods

· Evaluate peer training activities and programs

 

 

 

::WHO SHOULD APPLY

Individuals and teams of trainers working with Ryan White-funded programs in the State of Connecticut , and selected training teams from the Northeast.
